Charity Auction with Chinese Artists in Support of Haiti

Aug 2011

Cai Guo-Qiang initiated and participated in a charitable auction with over 20 fellow artists in China as an immediate response to raise funds for disaster relief following the 2010 earthquake in Haiti. More than 30 artworks were donated to the cause, including Cai’s gunpowder painting on a nine-panel screen, Man, Eagle and Eye in the Sky (2004). All proceeds were distributed to four international non-profit organizations engaged in disaster relief efforts in Haiti at the time, including SOIL, Fonkoze, The Nature Conservancy, and HELP-- in collaboration with Cornell University, through the Mingtian Fund for Haiti’s Tomorrow.
