Gunpowder Painting Live Creation and Charity Auction at Christie’s

On the occasion of Christie’s inaugural auction in Shanghai, Cai presented a live creation on September 25, 2013, creating the gunpowder painting Homeland, inspired by his hometown of Quanzhou, China. The work was sold the following day at Christie’s inaugural auction on September 26, with all proceeds dedicated to supporting the establishment of the forthcoming Quanzhou Museum of Contemporary Art (QMoCA), envisioned as a gift for the next millennium.
